DecoPac is the world's largest supplier of cake decorations to professional cake decorators and bakeries. For years DecoPac has provided partner bakeries the ability to print licensed images on a sheet of frosting and apply it to a cake. Previously, bakeries were required to purchase a $1,800 system to print the licensed sheets. DecoPac decided to also offer their system online at a fraction of the cost of the desktop system, so they partnered with Atomic Playpen to develop a new PhotoCake® Online ecommerce website. The effort included refreshing the PhotoCake® brand as well as design and development of the new website. Now, bakers are able to access PhotoCake® Online and select from hundreds of licensed images, rotate and resize it to fit the cake, add a child's photo, customize a message on the edible frosting sheet, and print it at the bakery. The ecommerce website is credit based, so bakery managers can purchase hundreds of credits in advance and provide employees access to the system to purchase images without worrying about a credit card. The PhotoCake® account area informs the bakery of the numbers of credits they have left, and also provides a number of reports so bakery managers can track the employee usage of the website. This project included a complex client side printing application to ensure the highest color quality.
